How long is the class? CUNY Start is a semester-long program that is offered in the fall and spring. All students attend a weekly college success advisement seminar.
Candidates for the bachelor's degrees must demonstrate basic proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics, as required by University policy as stated below.
Applicants should have a minimum of 24 earned credits from a regionally accredited institution and a cumulative GPA of 2. No more than 90 credits will be transferable to the credit degree program.
All University policies regarding skills and proficiency testing, grading, transfer credit, and degree completion will apply, as outlined below. A team of transfer-credit evaluation specialists will carefully review each student's transcript.

Students who have successfully completed Elementary Algebra or a 3 credit college-level math course at a CUNY college are considered proficient in math.
